Beskrivning

As of 2018, Bruised Food Club has worked in line with Agenda 2030 to contribute to a world free of food waste and hunger. Last year alone the organization saved around 10 tons of food in Uppsala from being thrown away. This year we hope to make an even bigger difference. Now we are looking for new board members that can continue this mission, and contribute to the fight for a more sustainable society. The elected board members will begin their work as of the yearly meeting, 14th of May 2023, until the following yearly meeting.

What is Bruised Food Club?
Bruised Food Club is a non-profit organization located in Uppsala, and works with promoting sustainability while fighting food waste. In collaboration with local partners, volunteers collect (still perfectly edible) food on a weekly basis. The rescued food is then taken by box bikes to our weekly market, where the food is distributed free of charge to people in need. The markets are open to everyone and take place at the City Library (Stadsbiblioteket) in central Uppsala.

In addition to working with rescued food, we also try to spread more knowledge about food waste. We do this through, for example, our social media, various types of workshops, film screenings, etc.

The board assignment
Since 2020, Bruised Food Club has officially been a non-profit association, and then elected an interim board. Since then, we have voted for democratically elected board members at annual meetings. We are now looking for candidates for our new board, which will be elected at the annual meeting later in the spring. There are eight positions on the board and are perfect for those looking for skills development. In addition to decorating one's resume with board assignments, one makes a tangible difference to many people.

The board consists of the following positions:
  • Chairperson: supervises that the board is doing the work they set out to do. That requires keeping track of all the activities and projects being organized by BFC and checking on the people responsible for carrying them out. This includes organizing and leading meetings, communicating with the team leaders as well as representing BFC internally and externally towards our partners and collaborators.
  • Vicechair: assists the chairperson with their work.
  • Team leader: there are currently three teams (Food Heroes, Education, Communication), each working in a different area. As a team leader, you are responsible to organize regular meetings and supervising the team’s progress. In addition, regular reports about the team’s work are reported to the secretary, who sends the newsletter emails.
  • Secretary: responsible for writing the minutes in meetings when present and sending out update emails on a biweekly basis. Furthermore, the secretary is responsible for keeping the documents organized, monitoring BFC’s email, and communicating with the rest of the team about events, courses, and workshops.
  • Treasurer: as treasurer, you would be responsible for working with current sponsorships, searching for and working with new sponsors, and also being in charge of keeping a tab on the organization's budget.
  • Nomination committee: searches for candidates for the following yearly meeting.

For more information about the board positions, feel free to get in touch. The assignment is very flexible and can be combined perfectly with work and/or studies. The organization attracts fantastically nice people, and as a member/volunteer, you get the chance to easily form close ties with new people.

In order to take part in the election (elect and be elected) it is mandatory to be a member of BFC. To become a member a membership fee of 100 SEK (or 20 SEK for volunteers) has to be paid before the day of the Yearly Meeting (14/5). As a volunteer, you are regularly helping out in the organization e.g. when hosting markets or planning workshops.

Welcome with your application!
