Head of ActionInvest

Action10 is a volunteer-driven association with a double mission: Raising cross-cultural awareness and raising funds for social entrepreneurial business loans. We are currently looking at strengthening our team with a qualified individual to act as ‘Head of Action Invest’

This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity. As the role is new, there will be plenty of opportunity for a candidate to shape it in close collaboration with the Action10 Board. Key elements in the role will be to coordinate with Action 10 teams based in Sweden with the ultimate goals to increase the donor base and funds raised to Action 10. You will thus be expected to approach and build relationships with potential donors to the organisation. Moreover you will engage on a regular basis with our Branches in sub-Sahara African countries and assist them with developing programme and financial reports. 

We believe that you have several years of experience from the private sector business and have gained a broad understanding of branding, marketing, sales, and financial accounting. Moreover, it is important that you have the aim, drive, time, and motivation to engage yourself in a role that is meaningful as well as interesting, but also rather challenging. 

It is an advantage, but not a prerequisite, if you have experience from working in or with sub-Sahara African countries. It is likely that you will spend 5-10 hours per week on tasks related to the role. It is therefore of utmost importance that you have the time and ability to independently plan your work. In order to ensure organisational continuity,  candidates should be able and prepared to dedicate themselves to the role for a period of at least 2 years.

About Action10 

Action10 was registered in Sweden in 2009 by Dr Cecilia Öman. She had a two-fold vision of a shift of paradigm where aid dependency had been replaced with international equal partnership, and extreme poverty had been eradicated. She targeted scientific research, advanced laboratories, social enterprising and partnerships for development and founded the volunteer-driven association Action10 for increasing cross-cultural understanding and to raise funds for social entrepreneurial business loans and. She also founded the social enterprise Human Rights & Science (HR&S) in 2015 that has local branches and effective operations within the targeted countries and can prepare for, and follow up on, the investment of the funds raised by Action10. HR&S operates as an equal partner with social entrepreneurs, institutions and other stakeholders and offers training and coaching on management strategies related to scientific research,  advanced laboratories social enterprising and partnerships for development.

Action10 is an entirely volunteer-driven organisation which means that we manage to transfer 95% of donations to our partners in Sub-Saharan African countries. The 5% that remains in Sweden covers; bank account, money transfer, website accounting software fees. From 2009, when Action10 was a “one-man band,” until today, it has grown into an organisation managed by 20 volunteers.
