Help build Gothenburg Fringe Festival before The Opening

Join Gothenburg Fringe Festival 2026 as a volunteer!

Taking place from 28 August–6 September, Gothenburg Fringe Festival is an international performing arts festivals. Now celebrating its 11th edition, the festival showcases bold, unexpected and independent performances in unique venues across the city.

Every year, artists and audiences from around the world come together to celebrate creativity, curiosity and cultural exchange. As a volunteer, you'll become part of a diverse and welcoming international community while helping create unforgettable experiences both on and off stage.

As part of our Pre- Opening Team, you'll help transform the festival spaces before opening day by:
- Building and setting up scenography
- Decorating festival spaces
- Moving materials and furniture
- Preparing venues for artists and audiences
- Working together with the production team

The main build days are 26–27 August, with both daytime and evening shifts available.

We're looking for people who:
- Enjoy hands-on creative work
- Like building and creating things
- Work well in a team
- Can communicate in English (additional languages are a bonus)
-  Are available for at least three shifts (approximately 4–6 hours each)

No previous experience is required. We'll provide an introduction before your first shift, and you'll always have support from a Volunteer Coordinator.

As a volunteer at Gothenburg Fringe Festival, you'll receive:

- Free access to festival performances (subject to availability)

-  The opportunity to meet artists, audiences and volunteers from around the world
- Hands-on experience as part of an international performing arts festival
- The chance to develop new skills and gain valuable experience
-  A reference letter upon request after the festival

Part of Fringe is to join an international community of people loving performing arts and having fun! You get to see shows that are not fully booked on times outside your shifts and hang out with artists, organisers and fellow volunteers as we have a lot of social events!

Minimum commitment

Available for at least three shifts (approximately 4–6 hours each) during the festival. Your shifts will be planned according to your availability and Fringe schedule. The festival also serves several opportunities to just have a fun and social time with the other volunteers (optional). We are also happy if you like to join The Opening event on 28th of August when the festival starts.
