Join the FEDECRAIL Event Team

FEDECRAIL is now establishing a dedicated Event Team to strengthen the planning and delivery of our European activities.

We are looking for motivated volunteers who would like to support the organisation and development of:
  • Annual Conferences
  • Study visits and technical tours
  • Strategic meetings and European workshops
  • Dialogue events with EU institutions and sector stakeholders

The Event Team will help:
  • Plan programmes and structure content
  • Coordinate speakers and partners
  • Develop budgets and financial planning
  • Support logistics and host organisations
  • Contribute to sponsorship and funding discussions
  • Ensure professional execution and follow-up

Our events are central to building understanding of the heritage rail sector and creating constructive dialogue with EU bodies, regulators, infrastructure managers and cultural stakeholders across Europe.
This is a flexible voluntary role with remote collaboration as the base. The engagement may include participation in European events, with travel and accommodation covered when acting on behalf of FEDECRAIL.

Be part of shaping Europe’s leading heritage rail network.

Minimum commitment

The Event Team engagement is flexible but structured around FEDECRAIL’s annual activity cycle. On average, members may contribute: 2–4 hours per month during regular periods (planning, coordination, digital meetings) More intensively (5–10 hours per month) in the 3–4 months leading up to major events such as the Annual Conference Participation in online coordination meetings (approximately 6–10 per year) The role is ongoing and not limited to a fixed term. Members may choose to engage for one specific event cycle (e.g. one conference year) or continue longer-term. Most work is carried out remotely. Physical participation in events, study visits or EU dialogue meetings is optional but encouraged where relevant. When representing FEDECRAIL, travel and accommodation costs are covered by the organisation.

When and where the opportunity takes place

The assignment is not limited to a specific location and is primarily carried out remotely. Most coordination, planning and preparation take place online through digital meetings and collaborative tools. The engagement follows FEDECRAIL’s annual activity cycle, with increased activity in the months leading up to major events such as the Annual Conference, study visits or EU dialogue meetings. There is no fixed start or end date. The role is ongoing and based on mutual agreement. Volunteers may choose to contribute to one specific event cycle or remain engaged over a longer period. Physical participation may take place in different European countries depending on where events are organised. When travel is required on behalf of FEDECRAIL, travel and accommodation costs are covered by the organisation.
