Mission Overview
Volunteers play an essential role in the implementation and smooth running of the Kongo Groove Festival.
Under the coordination of the festival organising team, you provide operational, logistical and interpersonal support before, during and, when required, after festival activities. 
Your contribution helps ensure a high-quality welcome, smooth event operations and a positive experience for audiences, artists, speakers and partners.

Role and Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the festival team with a range of practical and organisational tasks, according to operational needs, as well as the volunteer’s or intern’s skills and availability.

1. Logistical and Operational Support
Contribute to the preparation and effective organisation of festival spaces and activities.

Main tasks:
  • Assist with the preparation, set-up and dismantling of festival spaces;
  • Support the installation and organisation of furniture, equipment and signage;
  • Provide practical support to the festival team during activities and events;
  • Assist artists, speakers and partners with operational needs, when required;
  • Monitor the general organisation of the spaces and promptly report any needs or issues to the responsible team member.

2. Audience Reception
The volunteer contributes to creating a welcoming, inclusive and accessible environment for participants and visitors.

Main tasks:
  • Welcome and assist members of the public upon arrival;
  • Provide general information about the festival programme and activities;
  • Direct participants to the relevant spaces, venues and activities;
  • Support audience flow and information during events;
  • Contribute to maintaining a respectful, inclusive and friendly atmosphere.

3. On-site Communication
Strengthen the visibility of the festival and ensur that audiences receive relevant information on site.

Main tasks:
  • Distribute programmes, flyers, posters and other communication materials;
  • Present and promote festival activities directly to the public;
  • Support the dissemination of information at partner venues and relevant locations;
  • Participate, when required, in communication and audience engagement activities;
  • Report feedback, questions or observations received from the public to the festival organising team.

Expected Contribution
Volunteers are expected to demonstrate punctuality, responsibility, teamwork, respect and initiative. 

Minimum commitment

Duration per shift: approximately 5 to 8 hours, including preparation and closing tasks. Number of shifts: 1 to 5 shifts during the festival period, depending on operational needs and agreed availability. Working hours: Assignments may take place during the day, in the evening and/or at weekends, depending on the programme of activities. Flexibility: Volunteers and interns may sign up for a single shift or for several days.

The assignment will take place at different festival venues during Kongo Groove Festival: ABF Stockholm: Tuesday, 27 October 2026 Punkt Medis: Wednesday, 28 October 2026 Bromma Folkhögskola: Thursday, 29 October 2026, 10:00–22:00 Fisksätra Folkets Hus: Friday, 30 October 2026, 10:00–22:00 Subtopia: Saturday, 31 October 2026, 12:00–21:30 Exact working hours and tasks will be communicated according to the volunteer’s or intern’s assigned role and agreed availability.
