Stockholms Schackförbund

The Stockholm Chess Federation was founded in 1911 and is Sweden’s leading regional chess federation, representing approximately 500 local chess clubs. The Federation is a member of the Swedish Chess Federation, alongside 21 other regional federations across Sweden.

Our vision, “Chess for Everyone,” reflects our belief that chess has the potential to create even greater social value. Many people in Stockholm enjoy playing chess online, which is fantastic. However, our experience shows that chess can contribute even more to mental and social well-being when it is played in new social settings and communities.

For more than 40 years, the Stockholm Chess Federation has organised the school chess competitions Schackfyran and Schack56an, giving primary school pupils across Stockholm the opportunity to take part in one of the world’s most exciting chess events.

The Stockholm Chess Federation also runs several projects aimed at creating new platforms and opportunities for different target groups. Together with our affiliated chess clubs, we offer beginner courses, chess coaching and tournaments for everyone who wants to become part of our community.
