Uppsala Stadsmission
Mikaelsgården is looking for morning volunteers to pick up bread!
Uppsala Stadsmission has for many years been running Mikaelsgården, a place for people in homelessness, with addiction problems and mental illness. Guests get breakfast and lunch, shower and get clean clothes, rest and meet other people. The staff available can provide support and help in everyday life.
Several of Uppsala's centrally located bakeries and cafés donate yesterday's bread to Mikaelsgården, which we pick up every weekday. We are now looking for volunteers who can pick up bread on weekdays between 7.30 and 8.30 in the morning one day every week.
As a cycling volunteer at Mikaelsgården, you are expected to be able to be there on "your" day every week to cycle around and pick up donated bread and drive it back to Mikaelsgården. Of course, we have an understanding that you can sometimes get sick or be unable to come, but the goal is to be able to be there on your day every week. By also having a small group of volunteers, we can help cover up if someone becomes ill or has to be absent for some other reason.
Please read the entire ad before applying.
Minimum commitment
You need to be there at 7.30 on "your" day, and the ride takes about an hour. And we wish you to sign up for at least one semester.
When and where the opportunity takes place
The ride start and ends at Mikaelsgården on Skolgatan 24 and all places where you pick up the bread are in central Uppsala.
