Become a crew host during medieval week 2026
Do you want to help create the best medieval experience in the world?
Medieval Week on Gotland is the largest historical festival in the Nordic region, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. This year’s festival takes place August 2- 9 with the theme Love. Volunteers are needed everywhere, and we welcome everyone—from enthusiastic beginners to experienced pros.
As a Crew Host, you help create the conditions for staff and volunteers to do their best. You’ll be based in the volunteer area—a central meeting point—helping with tasks like preparing coffee and tea, organizing snacks and activities, distributing meals, and managing costume loans. You’ll play a key role in keeping the volunteer hub welcoming, organized, and running smoothly.
Medieval Week offers a strong sense of community, with a volunteer-only campsite, activities, and a base camp where you can relax, have coffee, and socialize around the campfire.

- Meals during your shifts
- A festival wristband and volunteer badge, giving access to events (subject to availability)

Minimum commitment
25 hours, divided between 4 and 8 shifts
When and where the opportunity takes place
During the festival, August 2-9th. 30 scenes in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Visby's church ruins, parks and on streets and squares with parades and activities.

Accessibility
Visby streets, parks and ruins and our built medieval arena have good accessibility based on the conditions. Some ruins and places are difficult to access with a wheelchair.
