Become a visitorcenter host during medieval week 2026
Do you want to help create the best medieval experience in the world?
Medieval Week on Gotland is the largest historical festival and educational event in the Nordic region, attracting tens of thousands of history enthusiasts every year. Medieval Week volunteers are needed everywhere, and we have room for everyone—from enthusiastic amateurs to professionals. The most important thing is that you are willing and able to take part!
As a Visitor Center host, you ensure that our guests receive a warm welcome, provide information about the festival and performances, and sell tickets and merchandise to visitors. You enjoy working with people and thrive in a fast-paced, varied environment. You remain friendly and helpful to visitors even in stressful situations.
Tasks include, among other things:
- Checking in and distributing prepaid festival wristbands
- Selling tickets and merchandise
- Providing information about the festival.
Medieval Week offers a fantastic sense of community, with activities and a base camp exclusively for volunteers. Here we serve coffee, offer a peaceful break under and opportunities to socialize.
Good to know:
- As a volunteer, you can stay at Medieval Week campsite
- You receive meals during your shifts
- As a volunteer, you get a participant wristband, as well as a volunteer badge that give access to concerts.

When and where the opportunity takes place
During the festival, August 2–9, there are 30 stages set up across the UNESCO World Heritage city of Visby—in its church ruins, parks, streets, and squares—with parades and activities.

Accessibility
Visby’s streets, parks, ruins, and our constructed medieval arena have good accessibility given the circumstances. However, some ruins and locations are difficult to access with a wheelchair.
